Description
Folks, this is a great fiddle at a great price! An unlabeled Amati, most likely German made. It has a lovely, sweet-warm tone and good projection. We repaired some open seams, a top crack by the tailpiece, worked on the fingerboard and restrung her. It was missing one tuner and we found a suitable replacement, but it’s not a match for the others visually. The instrument plays easily and has a lot of dynamics in the tone. The instruments has a lot of character marks: worn finish, small nicks, dings and scratches and one spot on the back, by the tail, where some of the purfling is missing.
- Unlabeled Amati Copy, likely German in origin
- Solid spruce top
- One piece maple back
- Maple neck
- Ebony fingerboard
