Description

The serial number of this classic archtop shows it was made in 1940. It plays nicely with good action and has the archtop jazzy tone that you’d expect it to have. It has normal wear and tear from decades of use, scratches and dings, some finish chipping and checking, etc. The pickguard is not original, has an extra hole and is missing one screw. A strap button has been added to the neck’s heel. The tailpiece mounting screws are not original. The endpin isn’t original, is large and worn. Bridge has been replaced. The binding has been reattached in several places, mostly the waists. There is a very tiny repaired top crack at the waist, where the binding pulled. Now, the “big thing.” It has it’s original Frequensator tailpiece. The tailpiece base is cracked at both corners where it bends over the side of the guitar. We know this guitar well and have spoken to it’s owner many times about replacing it. They do not want to. Having said that, the cracks haven’t moved at all during this time. It may last another 10 years, or not, but we certainly wanted you to know about it. A great guitar overall, in very good – condition and comes with a hard case.
