Description
This is a nice violin, with good projection. Made in Germany. This is a copy of a 1754 Micael Deconet Violin. Michele Deconet was born near Strasbourg and traveled widely as a violinist. Traditionally it has been assumed that he took up violin making in Venice in the mid-18th century, but in fact there is no conclusive historical evidence that he ever held a formal apprenticeship or registered as a violin-maker in that city. His violins have characteristics of several builders, but seem to mostly be similar to Guarneri family work, prompting speculation of a connection to Pietro Guarneri of Venice, Italy. Regardless, this is a Germany factory copy instrument. It will make for a nice instrument for a student. It has obvious wear to it, mostly to the top, but is in very good condition overall. It comes with a hard case.
