Description
A very cool soprano uke from the Roarin’ Twenties! This was made by JR Stewart in Chicago. They made a whole line of Le Domino instruments, guitars, mandolins and banjos. Affordable and flashy, they proved popular. Unfortunately, the Depression hit. Stewart went out of business. Eventually Regal bought the name and released them. The Stewart ones are known to have a higher build quality. They also have the JRS logo on the headstock and the headstock itself has beveled edges. This instrument has a repaired back crack (not cleated). It looks like there are other cracks on the body, but they aren’t. We pressed hard to see if anything was open, none were. Maybe old finish checking that aged like this? Some clearly are mere scratches when you look at them. The fingerboard has wear in the first position. It’s ebony painted finish has the mentioned scratches and normal wear. The painted dominoes have checking, but are mostly intact. The painted fingerboard position markers show wear, but are mostly intact. The ukulele’s tuners have been changed. It plays easily, with correct action and sounds really nice! This instrument is in very good used condition and comes with a hard case.
