Description
The mridangam is an ancient percussion instrument originating from the Indian subcontinent. It is a traditional royal instrument rooted and originated from the South Indian state Kerala and is widely used in South Indian Classical Music. It is widely believed that the tabla, the mridangam’s Hindustani musical counterpart, was first constructed by splitting a mridangam in half. The mridangam is played resting it almost parallel to the floor. A right-handed mridangam artist plays the smaller head with their right hand and the larger head with the left hand. This used instrument features tunable, synthetic heads. There is some marking to the fiberglass shell as well as one dent. There are 2 hooks to which you can attach a strap to, if desired. The overall condition of the drum is very good.
- 2 1/2″ and 7″ synthetic heads
