Description

A really superb archtop guitar, made in Austin, Texas by Schaefer guitars. Carved spruce top, carved maple back, maple sides, all of which are solid. 16″ wide lower bout. It has a Bartolini pickup mounted onto it’s pickguard. The pots are mounted on the pickguard, both are missing knobs and they are 2 different pots, with different post lengths. The Tailpiece utilizes a tail loop that goes around the endpin jack. Both the pickguard and tailpiece were replaced at some time and changed back, with the extra holes drilled left unfilled. The tuners have changed bushings on a few and it looks like the post holes on the headstock are larger than the bushings, due to the gaps you can see. The adjustable bridge is down all the way (fine action, however). There are several repaired cracks on the top. The center seam of the back looks repaired on both ends. Both sides, towards the endpin have repaired cracks. We checked all the cracks for stability. There is wear/discoloration to the binding and where an arm goes over the guitar. There are binding repairs near the guitar’s waist, some are sort of ugly. Where the binding meets the guitar on the body and the neck, there is a lot of chipping. We scrutinized all the old repairs on the guitar for their stability, all are fine. The guitar’s finish has faded from it’s original sunburst. It is a really great playing and sounding guitar! It is in good condition overall and comes with a hard case.
