Description
A great, jazz age tenor banjo. This one is a May Bell model by Slingerland. It probably had a resonator on it at one point, given the hole in the dowel stick. This instrument has a lot of finish checking and as a result, there are finish chips pretty much all over the neck. The pot has scratches on it’s cap, likely from a resonator shell hitting it. The lettering on the dowel very worn. The head (possibly it’s original one) has a very tiny spec of a hole that has been patched, with a piece of head glued to it. The metal parts have some pitting and tarnish. It’s original friction tuners work as they should and hold tune nicely. Frets in good condition. We gave this a setup and new strings. It plays nicely and has a really great tone. This banjo is in good used condition, just looking for a new owner. No case.
