This is a very rare mandolin! Stradolin…nobody is really sure who made them. Speculation is maybe Kay in Chicago or Favilla in New York. Stradolins have a cult following, and surely this rare one won’t be around long! This is a 2-point mandolin from the 1940’s. It has a solid top and layered back and sides. This instrument sounds really good! David Grisman said about Stradolins “They have no right sounding as good as they do.” Bill Monroe is known to play them in the 1930’s. There is finish chips and wear to it’s edges and there is one slight impression in the center of the neck. There is a little fret wear on the first couple of frets, but it should be a while before any real work is needed on them. The original bridge tilts forward a little, but it isn’t moving from there and seems stable. We replaced the worn out original tuners with some modern ones, did some set up and restrung her. The original tailpiece is pitted and tarnished and a strap button is now in the tailpiece’s bottom screw location. It is in very good condition overall and comes with a modern hard case.
