Chris Proctor Concert & Taylor Guitar Workshop– April 24 & 25, 2004

Music Folk hosted a performance by fingerstyle guitarist, Chris Proctor, on Saturday, April 24. This was Chris’ first appearance at Music Folk in several years, so we were really looking forward to the show. His technical ability and spirited performance left the audience very pleased. The following day, Chris hosted a Taylor Guitar workshop that was heavily attended. We were treated to more of his playing but also in-depth explanations on how to incorporate elements of his playing into your own style. Many thanks to Chris and to Taylor Guitars for making this happen.
Chris’ relaxed aura made the audience feel right at home.
Switching back and forth between sox and twelve string guitars, Chris’ repertoire shifted easily from his own compositions to unique and inspired arrangements of classics such as “Nights in White Satin” and “Ohio,” a highlight of the evening.
Chris played some simply beautiful tunes but leaned heavily on selections from his latest CD, The Chris Proctor Collection.
After the both the concert and the workshop, Chris spent quite a bit of time talking technique and guitars with the audience. Here, he talks technique with one of our teachers, Dennis Seagall.
